Abstract

The article cocerns the development of human-self which forms the human personality. The feeling of having a personal identity is known as the ego. Ego cannot be seen as the physical body is, though there are many selves or surrogate selves operating in the same person This is developed right from childhood till matured man in four stages: physical body, intellect, morality and finally spirituality. Vedanta recognizes two dimensions of self: the ego or the lower self and the higher or transcendent inner self. This is elaborated and finally the method of yoga has been discussed.
