Abstract

Dietary improvement can be achieved at all income levels, through wise selection based on recommended daily allowances, judicious combination and proper preparation of foods. The Indian Council of Medical Research has made recommendations for daily allowances of foods and nutrients for all age groups. For practical application, these requirements need to be expressed in terms of typical menus.
