Abstract

A major contribution to the Western Hemisphere Nutrition Congress III in 1971 was a paper by Warren L. Berggren, Director of Community Health at the Hopital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti. It summarized experience with Mothercraft Centers as a key component of the hospital's community health program. The paper was particularly important because it represents the most thorough and realistic evaluation of the effectiveness of well-managed Mothercraft Centers that has appeared to date.
