Abstract

Diabetes mellitus affects large number of people of all social conditions throughout the world. Globally there are at least 30 million diabetes and in India the prevalence rate is 1.8 percent. The principal means of management of diabetes mellitus are dietary modifications, maintaining normal body weight, adequate physical activity, use of oral hypoglycemic agents and administration of insulin if necessary.
