Abstract

Delonix regia , a well known plant with high medicinal value, reported to have a number of biological activities including antioxidant, and presence of flavonoids in its chemical constituents. The plant decoction of Delonix regia with other plants is used in treatment of malaria. A lectin from Delonix regia ( DRL) is used for hemagglutinating activity in the rat erythrocytes. It is well adapted to the humid tropical climate usually grown as an ornamental tree and given the name 'Royal poinciana' or 'Flamboyant'.
