Abstract

Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), a national intervention program for children started in 1975 on an experimental basis in 33 Blocks. The service was aimed to fulfil one of the WHO's goal i.e.. GOBI-FFF Growth Monitoring, Oral rehydratlon. Breastfeeding, Immunization, Food Supplementation, Female Literacy and Family Planning Hence it was an attempt to promote holistic development of children under six years, through strengthening the childcare practices and improved access to basic services at the community level It Is one of the largest and unique intervention programs of the world.
