Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose level resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both, Juvenile diabetes or Type 1 diabetes results from autoimmune beta cell destruction that leads to insulin deficiency. It results from synergistic effect of genetic, environmental and immunological factors that ultimately destroy the pancreatic beta cells.
