Abstract

The total population of Bihar as per 1991 census was 8.69 crore and out of that about 14.5 per cent belonged to the scheduled caste. They are the most deprived, downtrodden, Illiterate, neglected and weakest segment of the population. The problem of such a group of the society is age old with manifold socio-economic nutritional and psycho-political implications.
