Abstract

The problem of malnutrition in developing countries encompasses a spectrum of deficiencies of which the devastating one is of one or more n licronutrients. Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is recognised as a major public health problem affecting 1,788,600 people worldwide of which a majority are from the developing world. Earlier it was considered that IDA was confined to only pregnant women but the later reports suggested that it is equally prevalent among preschool children.
