Abstract

Combined effects of rotation and magnetic field are studied on the thermosolutal convection in a heterogeneous fluid layer in porous medium. It is found that instability cannot set in as stationary mode of convection, oscillatory modes are possible under certain conditions and non-oscillatory modes are unstable. The problem is also solved with the help of variational method and numerical computations are performed to ascertain the influence of various parameters.
