Abstract

The intrinsic semiconducting nature of bilayer lipid membrane (BLM) of oxidized cholesterol gets modified to an extrinsic one when electron acceptors/donors are present in the bathing solution. We have measured the values of band gap energy, Eg of BLM in aqueous solution of electron donors, acridine and bipyridyl and estimated the charge carrier concentration in these cases.
