Abstract

The TOMS ozone data and the Sunspot numbers in the time interval (1978-2005) have been analyzed using Fourier and Wavelet analysis. The aim of this work is to find any periodicities that may potentially modulate atmospheric and terrestrial phenomena. Fourier analysis of ozone has shown number of short periods, between 2-5 years (yr) and significant period at 9 and 11.6 yr. Sunspot numbers has also shown periodicities between 2-5 yr and 9.7 yr using Fourier Transform. Global ozone wavelet spectrum shove's periodicities around 9-12 yr and Sunspot numbers also shown 9-12 yr period. Correlation analysis is also employed between Sunspot numbers, electron fiuence (1987-2006) with ozone to investigate any relation between them. Finally Global ozone concentration shov/s decreasing trend using Regression analysis. This research contribution may connect establish a possible connection between the ozone concentration and the solar activity.
