Abstract

Plants are good indicators as well as mitigators of environmental pollution. They can play an elegant role in probing such environmental attributes that can be used in monitoring pollution. The deviations in structural organisation and functional systems in plants under different influences can be used as signals to identify the existence of various pollutants. Monitoring could also be related to survey of biopollutants emanating from plants. It is necessary to design a warning system for human allergy and plant disease through a thorough aerobiological survey of pollens and spores, adopt preventive measures and devise clinical systems to encounter the hazards.
