Welding of Duplex Stainless Steels

Abstract

MATERIAL DESCRIPTIONDuplex (Ferritic-austenltic) stainless steel combines many of the good properties of tfie ferritic and the austenitic steels. Owing to its high chromium and molybdenum contents, the steel has very good resistance to pitting and general corrosion. The duplex microstructure gives the steel both high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high mechanical strength. Duplex stainless steel possesses good weldability.
