Albunea thurstoni - A New Record of Anomuran Crab from West Bengal
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Albunids are relatively small crab-like anomurans, resembling the closely related Hippidae. They are generally found in shallow coastal waters but sometimes in depth as down as 225 meters. The family contains 48 species in 9 genera (Boyko&McLaughlin, 2010) world-wide, of which, only two species namely, Albunea symmysta and A. thurstoni are recorded from India. A perusal of literature reveals that not only the species but also the family Albunidae is reported herein for the first time from this state (Dev Roy, 2010).Downloads
