Abstract

A study has been made on the preparation and evaluation of alkanolamides from bodied linseed oil. The oligomeric fatty acids isolated from the bodied oils through saponification were reacted with diethanolamine. The surface active properties of the diethanolamides mixed with esters were investigated. The amide:ester ratio in the product was found to have a great bearing on the performance of the surfactants in making water-in-oil emulsion and gas bubble stabilization.
