The disease begins with the malignant transformation of one of the stem cells, which initially proliferates in the bone marrow and eventually overflows into peripheral blood of affected patient. Leukemia may begin at anytime in the life and is many times fatal due to failure of timely diagnosis. Gingival enlargement is a clinical feature that is very commonly seen, but the underlying cause may many a times not be diagnosed, leading to recurrence of the lesion as well as worsening of the condition.
