Jump To References Section
Abstract
The adolescence is the period between childhood and adulthood with accelerated physical, bio-chemical and emotional development. This period is characterized by rapid increase in height and weight, hormonal change resulting in sexual maturation and causing wide swings of emotion. During the period of puberty, the body has increased need for calories and nutrients like protein, calcium, iron, folate and zinc. Iron and calcium are particularly important nutrients during adolescence.Downloads
