Abstract

Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) remain a major public health problem in the world, inspite of the fact that the technology available for its prevention makes this problem the most amenable of the nutritional deficiencies to quick and effective control. Iodine is essential for synthesis of thyroid hormones, which are necessary for normal brain and neurological developments.
