Abstract

The World Food Conference convened by F.A.O in 1974 drew the attention for the first time to the need to develop ways- and means for assuring food security to hungry millions particularly of the under developed world. The concept of food security was defined varingly. While some defined it in terms of making food available to all people and bridging the gap between demand and supply of food, others defined it to meet the needs of only the vulnerable group of population.
