Abstract

Ninety years of consistent scientific research) indicated that diet is the most crucial factor in the causation of coronary heart diseases (CHD). Mortality from CHD in men and women of Indian descent settled overseas is higher than in other groups. Diet has an important role in maintaining an ideal body weight, body fat and normal levels of lipids. The control of these parameters help in the prevention of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, which in turn are independent diet related risk factors for thrombosis.
