Abstract

Minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) is the most common form of glomerular disease in children characterised by massive proteinuria. Corticosteroid therapy is currently recommended by German APN group (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Fur Paediatrische Nephrologie group -1990) for MCNS children. Prednisolone is commonly used for the treatment of MCNS children. However side effects of steroids (cataract, growth retardation, psychological disorders) adds to the morbidity and mortality of nephrotic syndrome patients.
