Abstract

Several years ago some of my colleagues observed that lesions of the mouth such as angular stomatitis and glossitis respond to treatment with either riboflavin or pyridoxine. This raised the question of the biochemical basis of oral lesions. Wada and Snell have reported that the synthesis of pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) in mammalian tissues depends on the flavin enzyme pyrido xaminephosphate oxidase (PPO).
