Abstract

Since forages constitute a major portion of the feed consumed by ruminants and their major function is to provide energy, we are on the constant look out for fodders which besides being palatable and high yielding should also be a good source of energy. Pusa chari is one such fodder developed by the I.A.R.I., New Delhi. It has many varieties which are reported to be resistant to pests and diseases, unlike common jowar. Of the Pusa chari fodder varieties recommended by the I.A.R.I, for propagation, some fodders, namely, PC 23, 1 and 6 have already been examined and their feeding potential and energy evaluation discussed earlier. In the present communication the results obtained on PC 7, 9, 21 and 40 are being reported.
