Abstract

ATPases are lipid dependent membrane bound enzymes and any alterations in the membrane lipid lead to changes in membrane fluidity which in turn alters the ATPase activities and cellular functions. Formation of lipid peroxide and subsequent damage to cell membrane and DNA are considered to be very important in the mechanism of ageing.
